Practice information

What to know.

Appointments

A standard appointment is fifteen minutes with one doctor, for one issue. If you need longer, or have several things to discuss, please ask for a double appointment when you book. Nurse appointments are available for dressings, vaccinations, blood pressure checks and routine screening.

Repeat prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions can be requested by phoning reception. Same-day prescriptions are $30, or $25 for Community Services Card holders. Next-day prescriptions are $25, or $20 for Community Services Card holders.

Test results

We will contact you if your results need discussion or follow-up. If you have not heard from us and would like to know your results, please phone reception. We would rather you asked.

Missed appointments

There is no fee for a missed appointment. Please give us at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel, so the time can be offered to someone else.

Casual and non-enrolled patients

We welcome visitors and patients enrolled elsewhere. Casual consultation fees are $120. Enrolling with us gives you lower fees and continuity of care.

Enrolling with us

Bring photo identification and evidence of your eligibility to enrol: a New Zealand passport, birth certificate, or residence visa. Tell us your previous practice and we will arrange the transfer of your records.

Access and parking

[PLACEHOLDER_ACCESS_PARKING]: confirm ground-floor access, wheelchair access, and parking arrangements.

Languages and interpreters

Each doctor’s languages are listed on the Doctors page. Between them our doctors speak English, Malay, Mandarin and Indonesian. If you would prefer an interpreter in another language, please tell reception when you book.

Your health information

We keep your health information confidential and use it only to provide your care, as set out in the Health Information Privacy Code. You may ask to see your records at any time.

Feedback and complaints

If something has not gone well, please tell us. Speak to reception or ask for the practice manager. Complaints can be emailed to reception@howickmedical.co.nz. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Health and Disability Commissioner on 0800 11 22 33.
